This 4-day safari combines classic game drives in Mikumi National Park with a refreshing trek through the lush rainforests of Udzungwa Mountains National Park, ending at the majestic Sanje Waterfalls. Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Drive to Mikumi National Park
- Early morning departure from Dar es Salaam.
- Scenic drive through the Uluguru Mountains to Mikumi (approx. 5 hours).
- Afternoon game drive in Mikumi, spotting giraffes, elephants, zebras, wildebeests, and possibly lions and leopards.
- Overnight: Lodge or tented camp in/near Mikumi.
- Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Mikumi
- Full-day safari in Mikumi’s open plains and woodland areas.
- Explore the Mkata Floodplain, home to abundant wildlife and birdlife.
- Picnic lunch in the park.
- Optional evening game drive (if staying inside the park).
- Overnight: Lodge or camp in Mikumi.
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Day 3: Mikumi – Drive to Udzungwa Mountains & Waterfall Hike
- Morning drive to Udzungwa Mountains National Park (approx. 1.5–2 hours).
- Begin guided hike through tropical rainforest to the breathtaking Sanje Waterfalls (approx. 3–4 hours round trip).
- Enjoy panoramic views, swimming in the plunge pool, and spotting endemic species like monkeys and forest birds.
- Return to Mikumi or nearby lodge for overnight.
- Overnight: Lodge or guesthouse.
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Day 4: Return to Dar es Salaam
- Relaxed breakfast and optional village walk (if time permits).
- Depart for Dar es Salaam with scenic stops along the way.
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch.
- End of tour.

Budget Accommodation
Safari using affordable Hotels, Lodges, or Camps, comparable to a 1-2 star Hotel. Accommodation is usually located outside the National Park.
Mid-range Accommodation
Safari using medium to large–scale Lodges, tented camps, or Cottage Camps, comparable to a 3-star Hotel
Luxury – Accommodation
Safari using deluxe tented camps or Lodges usually located inside the National Park and comparable to a 4-star hotel. Accommodation is usually located inside the Park.
Luxury+ – Accommodation
Safari using extremely luxurious tented camps or Lodge, usually located in a private wildlife – Viewing area and comparable to a 5-star Hotel. Expect great food, excellent service, top-quality guiding, and gorgeous tents or rooms. Most luxury + properties charge around USD$ 850 to 1850 per person per night!
